Accomplishments
Education activities include Good Citizens Award, monetary gift and certificates to three Buckeye Union district high school students. We collected Box Tops for Education for the Cacone College, Chemawa Indian School and others listed on the Master Report. We sponsored a chapter scholarship for a Buckeye High School graduate in their 2nd (3rd or 4th) year college.
Patriotic activities include posting 60 Chapter US Flags along Monroe Avenue (main street) on five patriotic holidays, presentation of the DAR JROTC medal, certificate and monetary gift to a cadet from the Buckeye Union High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.
Activities for Constitution Week included participation in the National DAR Bells Across America and a display at the Coyote branch of the Buckeye Library for the month of September.
Veterans’ activities included the placing of US Flags on veterans’ graves in the cemetery for Memorial Day service, in the past we have had a chapter float in the Buckeye Veterans Day parade and won several awards. We participate in the local Veterans Lift Up.
Business meetings included “Historical Moments” with reports on key events in each month. Speaker programs on Helping At Risk Teens, Arizona Friends of Foster Children, Pilgrim Pups and Rosie the Riviter. We also have a chapter member Patriots Story telling of their involvement in the Revolutionary War
Community involvement included a candy “Grab Bag” booth at the annual Buckeye Halloween Carnival; a patriotic float in the Veterans Day parade, a float in the Christmas “Glow on Monroe” parade. We sponsor booths in the spring and fall Buckeye Demolition Derby’s. We contributed to Buckeye Union High School ROTC and Cheer groups.
